Public transport
From Catania
The Circumetnea train between Catania and Paternò is suspended while the metro is being extended. Take the metro to Nesima, then the Circumetnea replacement bus to Paternò, Monday to Saturday.
From the airport
There is no direct connection. You can take a bus into Catania and continue as above, but with luggage a rental car or a taxi is much easier.

About 25 km, roughly half an hour by car. There is no direct public transport, so a rental car or a taxi is the easy option.

Is Paternò a good base for Etna?
